Quote from mrbogeyman :Sorry to go OT, but I couldn't help laughing looking at AJP71's 'sadness ratings' in his sig!

I'm only on page 3!

Yay for page 3, but it looks like I'm about to slide onto page 2 Oh well, I still have well under half the posts that Tristan has

I don't really know why the MRT5 is turbocharged, or the RAC for that matter. I know they both are in real life, but in LFS, they both make so little boost it seems silly. The turbos take ages to spool, to, so they're only adding high end horsepower. I'd think getting rid of the turbo, saving the weight, and changing the cam timing would make more sense, but I'm not an engineer, so what do I know

Actually, relations between Americans and Canadians are very friendly. At least from what I've seen. Our LFS team is all Americans and Canadians, and country doesn't make one bit of difference. I'm not sure about the English and the French, never been to either one, but I've heard that they're not the biggest fans of one another...

I personally love it. It's actually pretty easy to catch slides, because it's so immediate in it's responses. It makes my next favorite cars, the LXs and the Raceabout, feel like barges, hehe.

Simple things, like clutch and transmission settings being car specific, for example, if you have a Logi G25, H-Pattern shifting with no autoclutch in road cars, stick sequential shifting with auto clutch in the GTR cars, as well as the FOX and possibly the F08, and paddle shifting with auto clutch in the BF1. Hopefully the wheel/hands settings will also be car specific, for all the people who drive with the wheel off, but have to turn it on for the formula cars.

Or, it would be cool if you could just connect to LFSW in single player mode, so you could upload you PBs and see the WRs, I think that makes more sense than a multiplayer pause option.

That's happened to me before, but it only happens when I'm loading a new track environment, say going from Aston to Kyoto or something. This shouldn't be your problem, though, because all you've got is blackwood, weird.

They just said during the Le Mans coverage that there were over 300 cars at the 24H of the Ring. I wish they televised that one too

Quote from Forbin :At least at Cedar Point, that was really only the case for the newest rides like Dragster and Millenium Force. Older ones were well under an hour. Millenium Force was worth it, though, and it's way longer than the 20 seconds that Kingda Ka lasts,

That's what I don't like about these launch coasters that they're building. Sure they're big and fast, but it's just out and back. I like corners, loops, rolls, all the stuff that traditional lift coasters have, plus I really like rides that last longer than a minute. My favorite roller coaster is the Kumba at Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida, although I've never been to Cedar Point, still need to get out there one of these days....

So what's the deal, your car is actually controlling the sim, based on it's Dyno outputs? That would be really really cool, virtual street racing with real cars.

I've seen a couple mobos that have gameports, my friend has a fairly recent <3 years old Motherboard with one, but it's not very common

Quote from Barroso :if you have a gameport in your pc...i dont see why it shouldnt, i have one myself.

Actually, at least from what I've seen, many new motherboards don't have them, mine doesn't, neither do any of our computers, save an old HP we have in the basement.

Nothing really wrong with gameports, though, USB just replaced them. I've read some people actually prefer the feel of a Gameport wheel, too.

I'd really like to see Audi win. I know they've won for the past gazillion years in a row, but seeing a diesel win would be so cool

I actually think it's really handy to have, I'm often just grabbing a quick race before I have to leave the house, so having a clock right there is quite nice

Jeez guys, give the guy a break. First you imply that he's cracking the game, then you imply that he's iDi. Now, accusing him of being iDi may have been sarcastic, I hope it was, and I'm sorry if you meant it that way. This forum really is getting rough on demo racers. I'm the first to say there are some pretty dumb ones that come on there that have obviously cracked the game, but this is just a normal guy, posting his texture mod, and he gets jumped on.

Hehe, at first glance I thought thouse were ECCI TrackStar Pedals, and that's a compliment

Might be a bit cold for me, though, as I always play with bare feet....

Great looking pedals though, and I'd certianly think they'd last you a while

One question for Ayrton, why would you ever intentionally hit someone, in LFS or in real life. That's the second time you've said that when giving reasons for crashing

GPL has been around since '98 IIRC, and that community is just getting bigger and bigger. So it is possible for a sim to last

Quote from SamH :First things first.. I didn't spot it while reading through this thread, so I'll clarify that the person who WROTE that website IS ENGLISH. In fact he's a near-namesake of mine, from near me.

The site is a mix of irony and cynicism. The content is clearly directed at Brit eyes because of this. A non-English person reading it may OR may not understand the content's orientation. The humour in it isn't exclusively British, but it is typically British.

If you're British and didn't get it, then go back and read it again KNOWING it was written by a Brit FOR Brits. If you still don't get it, you either don't have a [typical/normal] British sense of humour or you're just thick. Sorry, but that's plain to see.

The content in the site is intended for Brits but is written under the guise of an American's guide to Britain. For the comedic content to work it had to be done this way. For clarification, it IS a minor dig at IGNORANT Americans, NOT ALL Americans and having lived and worked in the US for several years in the past, It DOES have a measure of value.. just as I was once an ignorant Limey.

The examples of English vs American language, for example, in the site are ALL ones that I've met with in real life. In one of my journeys between the US and UK, a young American girl who was travelling to the UK for the first time, asked if Britain had any beaches. Her name is Nancy, we're still friends, after our first transatlantic flight 22 years ago. She's now married to an English independent financial investor

There are a LOT of good reasons why Americans appear ignorant to Brits. The US is a huge country, and it has a lot going on INTERNALLY. Enough each day to fill a thousand days. In relative terms, Americans know a LOT more about Britain than Brits know about, say, Bolivia.

Ignorance is a comfortable place to stay, and you need both time AND an incentive to depart from it. Rarely are we removed from ignorance by force, except when something bad happens. Sad but true.

Perhaps we Brits have lost our sense of humour. This can happen when we're unsure of ourselves, and I think it's painfully obvious that that's where we're at right now. Historically Britain HAS been able to take a "ribbing". Maybe when we get our confidence in our place in the world back, we'll be able to do so again.

Reading that site, I immediately thought that it was probably written by someone from England. And yes, it does dig at Americans, as well as Brits, and I can sit and laugh at that. No, I'm not going to freak out and cry that someone insulted my country or it's residents, I found it quite funny. I think everybody needs to step back and laugh at themselves once in a while, it's good for your health

As for this site, the whole thing is written in a very sarcastic manner, which (at least I think) is a very British thing. I personally love sarcasm, and have a very sarcastic sense of humor, which is probably why I picked up on it right away. It's very well written, in my opinion, and has been added to my favorites list

By the way, just wondering, not trying to offend anyone, but what do all you Brits call 1,000,000,000 then, if not one billion? Do you just call it a thousand million?

I just got another HDD so I could install XP. It turns out that Vista doesn't yet recognize the DFP either, so as a gamer, you're kind of screwed. But oh well, I'm guessing there will be support for all this soon enough

I wonder if Scawen could tell us if it's easy for him to patch this or not, since I (probably rather stupidly) put Vista on my LFS rig, I need to know if I need to put XP back on or not.

I really do like Vista a lot, but I can't live without LFS
